Terms of use

Draft. These terms are written in plain language and still have placeholders in them. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer and is not final.

These terms cover the Cardflare app and this website, both operated byPLACEHOLDER-operator-legal-name ("we", "us"). Using either means you accept them. Last updatedPLACEHOLDER-legal-last-updated-date.

What Cardflare is

Cardflare suggests which of your own credit cards to use at a place, and which cards might be worth applying for. That is all it does. It is not a bank, a lender, a broker or a payment processor, it is not affiliated with any card issuer, and it never moves money on your behalf.

Not financial advice

Everything Cardflare shows you is information, not advice. Card terms in our catalog are hand-curated, approximate and can be out of date or wrong; the issuer's own terms are always the ones that count. Check with the issuer before you apply for or rely on anything. Decisions about credit are yours, and so are the consequences.

Using the app

  • You need to be 13 or older (16 in the EEA) to use Cardflare.
  • Give us accurate information if you want useful answers out of it.
  • Do not try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the app or the service behind it, and do not use it to break the law.
  • You are responsible for your device, your account and anything done through them.

Your account and your data

Signing in is optional. What we collect and why is set out in theprivacy policy, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time — see deleting your account. We may close an account that is being used to abuse the service.

Subscriptions

The paid tier costs $6.99 a month, billed by Google Play, and renews monthly until you cancel. Cancel any time in Google Play → Subscriptions; the subscription then runs to the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are handled by the store you bought it from, under that store's rules. We can change the price, but not for a period you have already paid for, and we will say so in advance.

Third-party services

Cardflare uses Plaid for bank connections, Google for sign-in and place lookup, Geoapify for map data, and Google Play for billing. Their terms apply to their parts, and we are not responsible for what they do.

Availability

We do not promise the service will always be available, complete or free of errors, and we may change or stop features. The app and the service are provided "as is", without warranties, to the extent the law allows.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost rewards, denied applications, credit decisions, or indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Cardflare. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when we do, and continuing to use Cardflare after that means you accept the new version.
